A new residence for a family with 3 boys constructed in an existing established residential neighborhood.
Our objective was to design a house that would fulfill the practical requirements of the owners while creating a delightful
place to live and grow up in.
Because the site occupied 3 lots in a neighborhood of various sized homes, care was given to reducing the scale of the
new house in every way possible. To offset the desired 10' ceiling height at the 1st floor, hip roofs were used and an eave
height of 7' above the 2nd story finish floor line helped reduce the overall vertical exterior wall height.
Materials selected for the exterior were durable and were used in ways reminiscent of the area's older brick and stone structures.
Windows throughout the house are frequent and oversized allowing plentiful natural light into spaces from every angle possible.
